The floating dunks releases effective levels of BTI along the surface of standing water, where it gradually settles and eaten by mosquito larvae. Mosquito dunks are highly toxic to the larvae, but completely safe for humans, pets, fish,
wildlife, and the environment.

Use Mosquito Dunks in all containerized, stagnant, or standing water areas where mosquitoes are known to breed.

Mosquito dunks contain Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (BTI), a natural bacteria lethal to mosquito larvae. When consumed, these natural bacteria release toxins into the larvae's digestive
system causing starvation, killing them within 48 hours.
Use 1 Mosquito Dunk for up to 100 sq. ft. of surface area of standing water, regardless the depth.
In polluted water with a high organic content, the application rate may have to be increased to as much as four times the normal dosage.
For pre-flood treatment, apply 1 Mosquito Dunk to each 100 sq. ft. which is known or suspected mosquito breeding site when flooded. Larvae that hatch after application of Mosquito Dunks may partially develop before dying, allowing
a minimum of 48 hours for their control.
Mosquito Dunks can also be broken into portions for use in many outdoor applications near the household in any containerized standing water - except finished, treated drinking water intended for humans.

Though, BTI is not meant to be used in water used for human consumption, it can be safely used in water tanks, if you use a filter before the water is used. Typically, if there are millions of larvae in the water, you may need to use the
Mosquito Bits first for a very quick kill, then put the Mosquito Dunks in after to keep the water free of larvae.
